Hello! My name is Claire La Fontaine, I'm the 2018/19 Freedom by Design Director. I was born in Venezuela and grew up in South Florida. This is my second year being involved in FBD, and I'm super excited to bring everything I learned last year to this new board. If you are interested in getting involved or just finding more out about this organization, you can find me in the third year studio bay (the one closest to second year). I'm super talkative and would love to get to know you!

Hello, my name is Noah Nelson and I am your 2018-2019 FBD Project Manager. I am a third year student here at the SoA. I was born in Arizona, but have lived in North Carolina for the majority of my life. I am passionate about design-build and encourage you to get involved with FBD in any way possible! I enjoy reading, sports, and anything that involves hands-on work. I’m excited to get started and look forward to working with each of you. If you have any questions or need a good book to read, let me know!

Hey Everyone! I am Ryan Tillotson and I’m privileged to hold the position of Design Developer for the 2018-2019 school year. This is my first year of FBD but my third year being a AIAS member. I am a 2nd year student and I’m interested in helping fellow students as well as my community. I was born here in Charlotte and lived in Iowa for a few of my younger years. I am a nontraditional student and in my time prior to UNCC I was heavily involved in construction and millwork. I’m very interested in physically making everything from models to furniture and whenever I get the chance I like too get out and play a round of disc golf. If you ever have a question about FBD don’t hesitate to ask!

Hi, my name is Jake Froning and I am the 2018-19 FBD treasurer. I am a second year student in the SoA, and excited about making a difference in the community this year through FBD. Outside of school I spend most of my time outdoors, and enjoy activities like skateboarding, surfing, and camping. I’m excited to be the FBD treasurer and encourage anyone interested in design build or community service to get involved.

Hello, I am a second-year student in the SoA. I am from Davie County which is a county of forty-two thousand people and located southwest of Winston-Salem in North Carolina. I look forward to meeting you and helping the Charlotte area through Freedom By Design. It is my goal for you to know what is happening in AIAS and FBD and hopefully help us reach our goal of making an impact in the Charlotte area. I am also involved with an on-campus ministry called Impact Charlotte, when I am not in Storrs or with Impact Charlotte I am usually soaking up the outdoors. Feel free to ask me about AIAS and FBD.

Hi! My name is Ellen Cahoon and I am the Freedom by Design historian. I am a second year architecture student. I am from Greenville,NC. My favorite hobbies outside of school are painting and crocheting. I am very excited to use my abilities to help the Charlotte community through my position in Freedom by Design.
