My name is Jake Froning and I am the 2019-2020 Director of UNC Charlotte’s Freedom by Design. I’m a 3rd year architecture student that grew up in the Raleigh area. In my free time I like to spend most of my time outdoors, doing activities like skateboarding, surfing, and camping. I am super excited for this year of FBD, and can not wait to work with my classmates and board members to make a difference in the Charlotte community.

Hey Everyone! I am Ryan Tillotson and I’m privileged to hold the position of Project Manager for the 2019-2020 school year. This is my second year of holding a FBD board position and my forth year being a AIAS member. I am a 3rd year student and I’m interested in helping fellow students as well as my community. I was born here in Charlotte and lived in Iowa for a few of my younger years. I am a nontraditional student and in my time prior to UNCC I was heavily involved in construction and mill-work. I’m very interested in physically making everything from models to furniture and whenever I get the chance I like to get out and play a round of disc golf. If you ever have a question about FBD don’t hesitate to ask!

Hello my name is Eliot Ball and I am this year’s FBD Design Developer! I am a fourth year undergraduate student at the SoA. I was born in Australia, but grew up here in Charlotte and lived here most of my life. I love all things making and FBD is a perfect way for me to get to stretch those creating muscles. I am an artist, paint, woodworker and play soccer outside of school. I am really excited to be apart of FBD this year, reach out to me if you want to know how you can help!

Hello, My name is Peter Romano and I am the 2019-2020 FBD Treasurer. I am currently a second year student, and am originally from Davie County, North Carolina. I love animals and back home I live on a farm where we raise llamas, peacocks and horses. I am excited to serve as treasurer for FBD because it is an excellent opportunity to give back to the community while also helping to expand my horizons as a student. I encourage anyone interested in helping out the community and gaining real-world experience to get involved!

Hello, I am Amelia.

Hi, my name is Arik Miguel, and I am excited to be the 2019-2020 FBD Historian. I am from Arvada, Colorado, but was born in Cleveland, Ohio. I am a third year SoA student, and this is my first year as an FBD board member. I also write for the Arts and Entertainment section of Niner Times. Outside of that I enjoy buying CDs from Goodwill and Tweeting.
